Profile of
Dennis E. Rindone
Author and Photographer of
Honor Roll of Liberty
Dennis Rindone a native of Athol, Massachusetts, now living in Erving, is a United States Navy veteran having served four years as a communications technician, petty officer, third-class. Trained in this capacity in Pensacola, Florida, he served in Washington, D.C. and on the Island of Guam in the South Pacific.
A graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, Rindone spent 10 years as an actor in New York City.
After moving his family back to their native Massachusetts, Mr. Rindone settled in Erving and entered volunteer public service; he was elected to the local school committee for seven years and served the Town of Erving for nine years as selectman.
Entering public service full-time, Rindone worked for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, as a regional manager for over 180 western and central Massachusetts communities. With offices in Worcester and Springfield, he had opportunity to travel broadly throughout the Commonwealth. This close connection to Massachusetts' cities and towns provided opportunity to develop an admirable appreciation for the value that individual citizens have placed on their hometown veterans....especially evidenced in their memorials.
Rindone's awareness and admiration grew into a zealous pursuit to find the spirit and stories behind a few, and ultimately each and every one of Massachusetts' memorials to their veterans from colonial times to our time.
The project was both compelling and daunting, yet Dennis was inspired to complete it by a personal respect for his father, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and by the absolute sacrifice made by his close childhood friend, Chris O'Brien, who gave his life in Vietnam.
Dennis is married to Sandra (Moore) Rindone, and the couple has two children, Amanda and Nathaniel, and one grandson, Austin. Since 1998 Rindone has served as Town Administrator for the Town of Princeton.
Rindone's life has many defining experiences; those profiled here are prominent in his fervent and rigorous research in preparation for authorship of Honor Roll of Liberty.
